YOUR SUGGESTIONS

I have made a few small changes to the group's structure:
1. The Article Suggestion folder has been removed as it's quite redundant - you can suggest other people's journals in the gallery as well and that will make it easier for me to see and include in the Article showcase.
2. New favourites folders: In addition to the Art Suggestions favourites folder I will add a Theme suggestions and a Medium Suggestions folder, which will make it easier for me to sort through your suggestions. The Art Suggestion folder will remain as it is - you are welcome to submit in it artworks that left an impression on you.
3. A new gallery folder will be added for Essays, Reviews and Blogs - it will be a category for articles based mainly on narration but it will still have to be art-based. Personal blogs still don't belong in our group. Here are a few examples of what I mean:
Some thoughts about DA and Photomanip FeatureHey all!
So I finally spent pretty much the whole day here and went through over 100 stacks of art. Yep, that much... xD
The good news is not only I've seen all your art, but also now I get to make a feature with it. :)
On a different note, I wanted to speak up a bit on a topic I don't seem to be the only one worrying about.
What is going on in DA? I'm not talking specifically about our (manips) community... honestly I think we are tight here and we manage to run it well enough. We have some pillar members that put a lot of effort into keeping the community alive and they are doing a great job at doing so. To you goes all my love and appreciation.
Now, as time passes, the more obvious it seems that our little community is not representative of what is really going on in DeviantArt. I've decided to write this journal because I've seen several journals lately about this: how the favs numbers are going down, how there seems to be less exposure all over, how the website is i

Pushing It.I recently bought a new lens: the Canon Zoom EF 100-400 mm  1:4.5-5.6 L IS II USM. This is the Mark II version of my previous long zoom that I have used for wildlife work. While in Scotland recently, I gave it a test on a dismal, grey day at the Ken Dee Marshes, an RSPB reserve on the banks of Loch Ken in Dumfries and Galloway. I had preset the camera for bird photography with a Tv of 1/1000th second, a floating ISO that turned out to be 6400, and the widest aperture on the lens. The high ISO is a giveaway that the light was very poor and that I was pushing my luck to take anything half-way decent. However, this was a test run to see how the lens fared in adverse conditions. As it turned out, I was remarkably lucky in what I saw and captured even though the quality of the images certainly suffered from the poor light and high ISO.
As I slowly made my way along the track I saw movement in the far distance and a few seconds later a stoat in its winter coat came running towards me. T
Best Animated Feature Reviews: 20092009 was considered an amazing year for animated features, some people even argue that it was the greatest year in animation history, and for many reasons.

One was that many animation legends like Hayao Miyazaki, Henry Selick and Ron Clements & John Musker all returned in a big way that year.

And another was that it gave us a lot more than just computer animation! Including stop-motion, anime and even classic Disney animation!

But does that really mean 2009 was one of the best, if not the best year for animation? Let's go find out!

Up - Pixar Animation Studios (Winner) (Also won Best Original Score and was nominated for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Sound Editing)

While Pixar already made tons of great films in the past, this was one of the films that changed their lives forever when the audience at the Cannes Film Festival w

4. I will add a vote for favourite suggestion, too, for the sole reason of seeing who suggests what and give proper credit to the members who take the time to contribute to our features.
5. I've given more freedom to non-members - now everyone can contribute to the gallery with members limited to 3 per day per folder and non-members to 1 per day. Favourites are also open to everyone. I'm keeping the Members' art folder limit to 1/month since art collection is not the main goal of this group.

Malintra-Shadowmoon has been sending me a lot of article suggestions for the gallery, many of which you will be seeing in our Features spotlight.
DA's Chronicle - February/March 2018At the middle of each month, we will honour one journalist, that has been suggested by fellow deviants, to be highlighted in DA's Chronicle.
Born out of the idea to give journal features a DD and to award journalists who created their journals themselves with their own ideas, texts, art, this monthly journal will focus on this special kind of artists:

Where Men Have Forgotten - Accompanying Vignette
Hello, visitor. I see you have been chatting with the guardian fairy of this ruin. With you being an erudite and learned magus, I'm sure you'll be okay. However if you were merely an ordinary mortal, I would feel obligated to warn you not to be too overt in your praises of that particular fae. Just between the two of us, she's more than a wee bit on the dangerous side. If she were to become too enamored of your words... Well, let’s just say bad things have happened in the past.
That ruined house behind her was once the home of a handsome human gardener, who also had just enough skill with magic to be able to perceive the earth spirits. When he saw the lovely fairy among his trailing roses, he made the mistake of telling her how beautiful she was. Not being used to compliments from the usually oblivious humans, and seeing how strong and handsome the young man was, she fell madly in love with him.
For the next few years she stayed close by him, blessing his flowers and watching his
Thorns TributeI, as if in a waking dream
Notice her
Couched amid the roses
Her serenity an unending sigh
Quiet, her body wreathed in thorns
A familiar sting of ominous quietude
Will you not reply?
Is your heart guarded
Eyes, closed
The resignation of a flower
To be laid atop a headstone
The somber and terrifyingly silent
Voiceless cry of a beleaguered soul
Have you surrendered?
Are you untouchable
Scarcely breathing
A shivery porcelain petal
A fragile melancholy seraph
Defended by a halo of brambles
Imprisoned within ancient amber memories
Are you trapped?
Do you even sense me here
Hushed, watching
You seem afraid to bloom
Your eyes like rosebuds, unopened
Entrapped in barbed uncertainty
Immobilized by the anguish that binds you
Are you paralyzed?
Can I not reach you
Sharp, prickly
Your throat clutched by vines
That shroud the battlements of speech
Lost, discarded and forgotten
Hesitant lest the spines pierce your soul
Will you ever be free?
